In my mind, I could have done more. I could have taken him down.
Last December, Muhaydin Mire attacked passengers with a knife at Leytonstone tube station but found himself confronted by fellow commuters including a bystander who shouted the famous line: "'You ain't no muslim bruv". Mire was eventually charged with attempted murder and is due to be sentenced later today.
We speak to one of the commuters, Dave Pethers, who decided to intervene. He describes the shocking events which have left him deeply affected.
In an emotional interview with Piers and Susanna, he refuses to be called a hero and says he wishes he could have done more. But as Piers points out, his actions almost certainly saved lives, so in our book he is a real hero.
