The allotment shed - countryside in the city
Shed builder, Joel, was tight for space and really wanted an allotment so he decided to put one on his shed roof. He uses the shed as his work space - the first half is for paining and art and the second is a music room and studio.
In true allotment style, much of the shed was built using recycled materials. He used old aluminium windows and doors, wood off cuts and old tyres for the raised beds and old pallets to make the herb wall.
He grows a whole range of crops on his roof and feels he has created a working shed and a little mini countryside which keeps him sane in the city.
Joel has written a book 'The Book of Shed' and with his unique design won the Cuprinol Shed of the Year in 2014.
