Stunning memorial to war dead revealed at Tower of London

A memorial to those who have died in armed conflict has opened at the Tower of London.

Each night until the 11th November thousands of flames will be gradually lit in the tower's moat - a fitting tribute to the fallen service personnel who gave their lives to protect British people and their way of life.

It marks 100 years since the guns fell silent at the end of World War One following four years of bloodshed which saw 17million people lose their lives.

The exhibition includes a "visual spectacle will be accompanied by a specially-commissioned sound installation" which explores the world's shifting political alliances, friendship, love and loss in war.
