Student who survived the Florida school shooting supports arming teachers

2,500 schools across the U.S. are staging walkouts today to mark the one month anniversary of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida in which 17 people died.

U.S. Lawmakers are also scheduled to vote on the 'STOP School Violence Act of 2018' which was introduced by Florida.

This morning we were joined by 16-year-old Kyle Kashuv, a pro-gun survivor of the Parkland shooting, as well as gun-owning Eric Guster who is strongly in favour of strict restrictions on gun ownership.

Kyle supports President Trump's suggestion that teachers should be armed. We find out more about his experience, views and an Act he's designing which aims to prevent more shootings not through gun control but by connecting pupils to discuss mental health issues.

Watch the full interview above.
