Shirley Ballas announced as Len Goodman's Strictly replacement

It's been almost a year since Len Goodman stepped down as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing but finally his replacement has been announced - as US ballroom dancer Shirley Ballas.

Her name may not be recognisable to most Brits, but the 56 year old definitely has the credentials for the job, having raised and trained Dancing With The Stars champions Derek and Julianne Hough, not to mention her own son Mark Ballas, who was a pro dancer on the US talent show for almost a decade.

Shirley will be replacing Len Goodman, who was head judge for 12 years

After Len announced he was saying farewell after 12 years as head of the judging panel last July, there has been much speculation over who would fill his dancing shoes, with Arlene Phillips, Brendan Cole and Anton Du Beke all thought to be in the running.

We're looking forward to seeing what Shirley brings to the panel!
