Russia responds to Olympic doping allegations

This isn't the first time we've seen countries involved in systematic cheating.

Russia faces being suspended from athletics after a devastating report by WADA into state-sponsored doping. Later today Sebastian Coe Head of the IAAF will host an IAAF Council conference call at a secret location in London, he will be aware that not only is his reputation on the line, but that of his sport.

IAAF 27 council members will discuss WADA report and vote on whether or not Russia should be given a provisional ban.

Lord Coe has urged the council to consider sanctions but it's possible that a ban could lead to an Olympic boycott by former eastern bloc countries. If Russia is suspended that would mean an immediate block on athletes competing and an IAAF panel will sit within one month to determine whether that should become a full suspension.

It's about taking actions to ensure this culture of doping is eradicated.
