Richard reports from devastation in Nepal

The agonising wait for news of loved ones goes on for the families of British and Irish people still missing in Nepal after Saturday's devastating earthquake.The death toll in the worst earthquake to hit the small Himalayan country for more than 80 years has risen to more than 4,300 and thousands more are injured and homeless. Aid agencies are scrambling resources to prevent disease spreading as it has begun to rain. It's feared the final death toll could be over 10,000.

Meanwhile, Nepal has told aid agencies it does not need more foreign rescue teams to come and help in the search for earthquake survivors, because its government and military could cope, according to the national head of the United Nations Development Programme.

The UK Government has pledged an extra £5 million in aid, taking the total to £15m.
