Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh announced for Strictly Come Dancing

Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh has been announced as the fourth contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2020.

GMB's Political Editor is following in the footsteps of Richard Arnold, Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins and Kate Garraway, who've all taken previously taken a spin around the Strictly ballroom.

Richard exclusively revealed the news live on air as Ranvir was showered in Strictly-themed pyrotechnics at the desk. "Have you taken leave of your senses?" Piers asked, before getting straight to the tough questions. "Can you dance or not?"

"I don't know, we'll find out," Ranvir said, adding that she was "very thrilled" to be joining the show but a little worried about the "sleep deprivation" as she'll continue to work on GMB while she's dancing on the BBC show.

She confirmed that she won't be going into isolation with a dance partner for the upcoming series and isn't quite sure how everything will work just yet. "I don’t know how it’s going to work fully. The dancers are already isolation," she explained. "What I am happy about is I believe there’s going to be a lot of testing."

"Ranvir, being tested is not the thing people look forward to on Strictly," Susanna, who made it all the way to the Strictly final in 2013 with Kevin Clifton, said. "What about the sequins, the sparkle, the jive, the waltz?"

"And The Curse! What about The Curse?" Piers interjected.

"Are you worried about the curse?" Susanna asked. "Are you looking forward to the curse?" Piers added. Ranvir said no but did cheekily state: "I am single."

"You won’t come 13th like Hawkins because there’s not enough weeks," Piers mused as he told her she was representing the GMB family and therefore failure was "not an option".

"Ranvir it’s going to be the most fantastic experience you’ll do," Richard said. "We’ll be totally across it as your loyal family."
