Poorer white pupils 'lagging behind' in schools
Poorer white pupils are lagging behind every other ethnic group when it comes to educational achievement, the Education Select Committee has revealed.
The worst area in the country is Peterborough, where less than 13% of white pupils on free school meals achieved five good GCSEs, compared with more than 50% of the rest of school pupils in the borough. The committee recommends guidance on how an extended school day could help and what could be done to encourage parental involvement.
