Dennis Waterman on New Tricks and George Cole
Actors are happiest when they're working ... so I want to keep working, but it's not the panic that it used to be!
Television legend Dennis Waterman joins us to talk about leaving New Tricks and his former Minder co-star George Cole, who sadly passed away last week at the age of 90.
In his last episode playing Gerry Standing tonight, Dennis appears alongside legendary British actor Bernard Cribbins as we see flashbacks to Gerry as young copper (played by Samuel Oates) rising up the ranks but intimidated by a boss who wanted him to accept payoffs.
Dennis told Ben and Susanna that George Cole was "a wonderful man. He was the most loved man in the profession."
The pair were close friends and Dennis is going to be delivering the eulogy at George's funeral on Thursday, "I could eulogise about him for weeks".
George says he's available for work "and loads of money" after bowing out of New Tricks. "Things change, and I thought I'd had enough really".
