Childline contacted every 30 minutes about suicide

If I had the chance to speak to Liam now, the first thing I'd say is 'I love you'. That's a hard thing to not be able to say.

Aaron Hearne

Childline have revealed they are contacted every 30 minutes about suicide. The NSPCC's helpline service carried out an average of 53 suicide counselling sessions a day last year, as they dealt with record levels of children as young as 10 talking about how desperate they felt.

Turbulent home life, abuse, school pressures, and mental health conditions were all major triggers for suicidal thoughts.

Girls are six times more likely to contact the telephone counselling service about suicidal thoughts than boys and those most at risk were aged between 12 and 15.

Luke Farrington spoke to Aaron, who's brother Liam Hearne took his own life aged just 14.
