Nation breathes a sigh of relief as the man in the window is rescued
Yesterday a man was seen waving a tea towel from one of the windows of the high-rise Glenfell Tower as the building became engulfed in fire. As time went by the gentleman looked more and more concerned for his safety and appeared to begin to pray.
Similarly, Good Morning Britain - and indeed, our viewers - became increasingly worried for the man as he waited for the emergency services to rescue him.
However, today we learned that the man - who has been named as Elpie Bonafacio - was safely removed from the building hours after we were on air - but is now in Intensive Care.
Elpie is thought to be in his 70s, partially blind and to have lived in the tower for 30 years.
London Fire Brigade commissioner Dany Cotton told us of his rescue, above.
We wish Elpie and everyone else who remains in hospital a quick and full recovery.
