1 Million Minutes: Pledge your time to help end loneliness
Good Morning Britain’s 1 Million Minutes campaign is back!
It has never been more important for us to talk about feeling lonely, as people around the country struggle with mental health and the acute isolation the cost of living crisis is continuing to cause millions throughout the country.
Now in its ninth year, the initiative aims to encourage viewers to pledge their time to charities that tackle the issues of loneliness. Since launching in 2016, a staggering 672 million minutes of time have been donated to charities in need of volunteers who can connect with those who feel alone.
Throughout the month of December, Good Morning Britain will be leading a series of events across the UK with additional ways for people to get involved, help themselves feel less lonely, or just pledge their time to help someone.
As well as supporting ITV's Britain Get Talking campaign, we’ve teamed up with charities who are all doing incredible work including Alzheimer’s Research UK, Winston's Wish, Re-engage, Royal Voluntary Service, Home-Start UK and The Chatty Cafe Scheme.
[Please do not contact Samaritans to volunteer your time for the 1 Million Minutes campaign]. If you are struggling to cope and need emotional support, Samaritans volunteers are available around the clock, every single day of the year. Call 116123, or visit www.samaritans.org for support.
