Real Madrid set to miss out on Kylian Mbappe signing

Real Madrid look set to miss out on landing Kylian Mbappe as Paris St Germain step up their efforts to tie the French star to a lucrative new contract.

PSG are understood to be dubious about whether Real Madrid have the means to follow through on the bids they have made for the player towards the end of the summer transfer window.

The PSG leadership believe it is very likely that Mbappe will sign a new deal, which will ensure he does not leave for nothing next summer and would immediately increase his price tag.

Real Madrid are understood to be astonished that PSG have not taken their interest in the player seriously and ignored their bids.

A source close to the Spanish club’s leadership denied a bid of 220m euros (£189m) had been made but described PSG’s stance in ignoring their interest as “insane”.

Meanwhile the LaLiga club have announced the signing of midfielder Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes.

The 18-year-old, who came through the youth system at Rennes, has signed a six-year contract at the Bernabeu.

A statement issued by Real Madrid said: “Real Madrid CF and Stade Rennais FC have reached an agreement over the transfer of Eduardo Camavinga, who joins the club on a six-year deal until 30 June 2027.”

Camavinga was in the final year of his contract in Brittany and the reported fee for the teenager is in the region of 30million euros (£25.75m).

He leaves Rennes following three seasons in the first team, after establishing himself as one of French football’s finest talents.
