Northern Ireland want more Euro 2016 success, says McGovern
Michael McGovern insists that Northern Ireland will not be content with the "fantastic achievement" of making the knockout rounds of Euro 2016 as they prepare to face hosts France or Wales in the last 16.
Northern Ireland qualified in third place in Group C despite losing 1-0 to world champions Germany at Parc des Princes on Tuesday, with McGovern pulling off a string of impressive saves to protect Michael O'Neill's men from a heavier defeat.
> > It's not really sunk in \- I'm delighted to have played so well but also delighted for the team to have qualified for the last\-16. > > > "I think it's a fantastic achievement and everyone should be proud of it. Before the tournament began we said we wanted to get out of the group and that we weren't here to just make up the numbers. > > > "To achieve that goal is very satisfying and we want even more of it now. We've enjoyed the experience so far and we don't want to go home, another game will be even better. > >
Wales or France await for Northern Ireland in the last 16 of the tournament, and McGovern insists he has no preferred opponent.
> > Not really. Both games will be different. If we play Wales, both teams will probably think they have a good chance of winning the game. > > > "Obviously if you play France it will be an amazing occasion, playing the host nation, so both would have different things. But we're just happy we're in the next round and we're going to be here a bit longer. > >
