Nadia Nadim on the ITV Football Football Show
As a young child, Nadia Nadim and her family fled the brutal Taliban regime in Afghanistan, after her father was executed for being a general in the army.
Following a terrifying journey, they arrived in Denmark, where the kindness of a stranger set in motion a chain of events which would see them gain asylum.
She has since represented Denmark nearly 100 times and played club football in several countries - including a hugely successful spell at Paris St Germain, for whom she scored 18 goals in 27 games. Here, she tells Mark Pougatch her remarkable story.
