Five things we've learned: Brazil v Mexico

Mexico exited the FIFA World Cup at the last-16 stage yet again as Brazil picked off their opponents with two second-half goals from Neymar and Roberto Firmino. Mexico need more than hair dye and Robert Firmino should start, what else did we learn?

NEYMAR IS MORE THAN THEATRICS

Despite the drama that often surrounds Neymar, not least his reaction to an altercation with Mexico's Miguel Layun in the above clip, he has the ability to prove his worth on the pitch when it counts.

He scored his sixth World Cup goal with his 38th shot. It took Cristiano Ronaldo 74 shots and Lionel Messi 67 to reach six goals in the competition.

FIRMINO SHOULD START

Roberto Firmino scored just two minutes and four seconds after coming on the pitch which is his seventh goal for Brazil and first in the 2018 World Cup.

Gabriel Jesus has started all of Brazil's matches this tournament, but has failed to hit the net, is this a case for Firmino getting the nod in the next game?

MEXICO NEED MORE THAN HAIR DYE

The likes of Javier Hernandez and Miguel Layun bleached their hair especially for this game but failed to express themselves on the pitch when it counted.

Since the introduction of the round of 16 in 1986, Mexico have been eliminated at this stage of the World Cup seven times – more than twice as many as any other nation.

Brazil are unbeaten in 15 matches in all competitions, conceding just three goals in that run (W11 D4). Can any team stop them?

WILLIAN SHOULD LEAVE CHELSEA

Willian has proved integral to Brazil's success having more touches (73) and putting in more crosses (7) against Mexico despite not finishing the game.

There's a case to be made to suggest he doesn't play as often as he should at his club Chelsea and should consider his options after the World Cup, with Manchester United reportedly interested.
