Five things we've learned: Brazil 1-1 Switzerland

Steven Zuber denied Brazil victory in their opening game of the World Cup as battling Switzerland fought back to snatch a famous 1-1 Group E draw in Rostov, but what did we learn?

Watch the highlights HERE.

AGE IS ONLY A NUMBER

He may be seven years his senior, but Valon Behrami stuck to Neymar like glue, not allowing him any space to work in. A lesson to be learned for those tasked with marking Neymar in the remaining Group E fixtures.

Behrami's work rate was fantastic for the Swiss, tracking Neymar relentlessly throughout his time on the pitch, and it was not by chance that Brazil started making more opportunities once he was substituted.

A fine performance.

COUTINHO CAN PRODUCE ON THE BIGGEST STAGE

We're used to seeing the former Liverpool man, who now plies his trade at Barcelona, score some fantastic goals at club level, but he has proved he can do it on the biggest stage, a World Cup.

Phillipe Coutinho put the Brazilians ahead with his fabulous strike, showing there is no stage too big for the attacking midfielder, as he looked Brazil's most potent threat in Rostov.

NEYMAR NEEDS MORE GAME TIME

It seems Neymar may still be overcoming an injury as he struggled to make an impact on the match. More minutes under his belt may just be the key if the Brazilian is to regain his dazzling international form.

The attacker was persistently fouled by Switzerland but looked sharper the longer the game wore on. Perhaps this bodes well for Brazil's talisman in their next Group match, where nothing less than a win will do.

SWITZERLAND ARE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH

Switzerland went toe-to-toe with the five-time-champions, proving that team-spirit and organization are key to getting points against the more experienced sides.

The Swiss were organised brilliantly and did not cave when Brazil put them under intense pressure. A team with some talented experienced and players, maybe Switzerland will take a few by surprise in Russia.

SWITZERLAND ARE MORE THAN JUST SHAQIRI

The man we're used to seeing light up the Premier League may be their talisman, but this game showed that Switzerland do not rely too heavily on him.

Xherdan Shaqiri did leave his mark with the assist for Steven Zubar's goal but as a team, the Swiss posed a more general threat than just Shaqiri alone. It seems some of the weight may have been lifted from his shoulders at international level.
