Referee named for England opener
Nicola Rizzoli, the referee for the 2014 World Cup final, will officiate England's Euro 2016 opener against Russia.
The 44-year-old Italian took charge of Germany's extra-time win against Argentina in Brazil two years ago and starts this summer's tournament officiating at the Stade Velodrome.
Rizzoli refereed England's 1-1 draw with France in the Euro 2012 group stage and will be assisted by compatriots Elenito Di Liberatore and Mauro Tonolini in Marseille.
The architect from Bologna started his international career in 2007, going on to referee the 2010 Europa League final and the Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund three years later.
