Classic Champions League Finals to be re-screened by ITV
ITV viewers can relive iconic Champions League moments as classic finals including Liverpool's iconic fightback in Istanbul and Manchester United's late turnaround against Bayern Munich will be aired in full on ITV4 from Monday.
Starting with Manchester United against Benfica in the 1968 European Cup final in front of 92,000 spectators at Wembley, illuminated by a memorable solo goal from Red Devils legend George Best, the five classic matches will run over five nights.
ITV's promo for the matches is now airing and features iconic moments from each of the finals, starting with Clive Tyldesley's, "Can Manchester United score… They always score!" in 1999 and including among others Didier Drogba's late headed equaliser against Bayern in 2012.
Four European Cup finals from before the Champions League era are also being added to the ITV Hub from Thursday July 30 - including Liverpool v Bruges in the 1978 final, Nottingham Forest v Hamburg in 1980, Aston Villa v Bayern Munich in 1982 and Liverpool v Roma in 1984.
Between Monday night and Wednesday night, ITV4 will also be showing a three-part series made by ITV Sport called European Cup Winners, which looks at the European success of British teams in the late 1970s and early '80s.
