Gary's ex-army friend Kal arrives on The Street, and he's about to put Dev through his paces...

Jimi Mistry, who plays Kal, said: "Kal is into bootcamps and that sort of thing. He’s the type of trainer who inspires people to be better. He’s quite a funny, cheeky little chap too."

Kal is set to cause a stir on The Street as he crosses paths with several residents, and he may even catch the attention of a few Weatherfield women.

"Kal's single when he comes in. He had a wife and she died, and he has kids too," said Jimi. "His son is in his late teens, so Kal was probably quite a young dad."

I’ve always had a soft spot for Coronation Street. Its tragi\-comedy balance really suits my approach. I’ve always had a fondness for the show in that respect, I never thought there would be an opportunity to be in it!

When Kal meets Nick, he offers to use his personal training skills to help him along his road to recovery. But when Nick gives him short shrift, it isn't long before Kal gives him some home truths... Will Nick reconsider his offer?
