Coronation Street

New love for Sean

Heavens Above!! Corrie favourite Sean Tully is going to finally find love - with a vicar!

Sean, played by Antony Cotton, falls for the good looking clergyman, after meeting him on a night out.

The Rovers’ barman is surprised when Billy, played by Shakespeare in Love actor Daniel Brocklebank, introduces himself as the new vicar at Emily’s church, St Mary’s in Weatherfield.

He’s thrilled when BIlly agrees to exchange numbers and the pair start dating - but the romance won’t be without its problems, as Sean has to deal with playing second fiddle to Billy’s job and his parishioners.

Producer Stuart Blackburn said:

“It’s about time Sean had a romance, he’s been unlucky in love for a long time. Billy is a great guy who is sincere about his feelings for Sean but his first love is and always will be God and the Church.

"We will be exploring this very modern relationship in the coming months and are delighted to have Daniel on board to play Billy.”

Antony Cotton said:

“I am thrilled that Sean is to find love again especially with this unique and exciting storyline.

"I'm sure it'll have it's ups and downs but that's what makes Coronation Street great. Hopefully it will be tender, funny and honest. Heaven!”

Daniel said:

“I am thrilled to be joining Coronation Street. I'm hugely excited to be part of something that is such an institution. I'm really looking forward to working with Antony Cotton and the rest of the cast, as well as joining my best mate Hayley Tamaddon on the cobbles.”

Daniel, whose credits include the RSC and psychological thriller The Hole, starts filming with the show next month and will be on screen from December.
