Interview: Is Paula in Danger?
Is Paula about to put the Websters in terrible danger? Stirling Gallacher gives us her verdict on what's coming up!
Was Paula shocked when she sees Jan on the Street?
Very much so, yes. She knows Jan in a professional capacity and is very compromised by him living in such close proximity.
How does she feel when Eileen talks to her and doesn’t know the full picture?
Paula is very worried and is extremely uncomfortable and must be very careful what she says as the situation is beyond delicate.
Is she genuinely scared by the robberies at her house? She must be involved in a pretty serious case if she is getting targeted?
Yes. She is dealing with some nasty folk and she has found herself in a very dangerous situation, just by doing her job. She is very scared by what is happening and is out of her depth.
How does she feel when Sophie asks her to move in with them?
She is pleased and relieved, but secretly wary. It is a big step for them and with everything that is going on it is not really the right time but she doesn’t want to be at home on her own.
Has she any idea it would be putting them at risk, do you think she should have come clean about the reason behind the robberies?
I don’t think Paula would have made a conscious choice to endanger Sophie or her family in her own interests, but fear can skew a person's judgement and Paula is way more scared than she is letting on.
Do you think Paula has missed being with Sophie, do you think they are a good match?
Paula has really missed being with Sophie and while she hadn’t pinned down how it would happen or if it was indeed possible, I think she had thought at length about the possibility of them reuniting in the time they were apart. I think they are a good, but un-obvious match and in lots of ways it would be fascinating to watch them evolve.
Does she feel guilty about what happens and how Jack was put in real danger?
Yes of course! She’s mortified. To put a small child at risk like that is awful.
How does Kevin react?
Like any parent would. He is ferociously protective of his child and has him and his best interests at the centre of all choices. He wants her out of the way so they are no longer at risk .
Do you enjoy playing a role that means you come into contact with lots of different characters and storylines?
Yes, Paula is the sort of character that could come into contact with anyone through her work, so I was lucky to be involved in the big David and Nick storyline and now the Jan and Eileen story.
