6 Ways in Which Corrie Supports Sustainability
Here at Corrie we try to put sustainability at the forefront of everything we do, here are just 6 ways in which we support sustainability!
1. Costume Department: In the costume department, memorable costume items are often donated to charity auctions, on site costume sales or ITV Re-loved. Costumes for some characters are even bought from charity shops!
2. Design Department: In the Design department we like to re-design sets and up-cycle props where we can. Did you know these stairs once belonged in the old Underworld?!
And the door handles to the tram stop once belonged to the Rovers doors!
Recently we’ve been using the volume wall to save wastage on building sets - see how it’s done: Behind the scenes of the volume wall | Coronation Street
3. Promoting recycling on our show:
We think promoting recycling is important - We like to show this throughout our episodes. Recycling bins, the clothing bank, the charity shop, and don’t forget the reusable shopping bags on display in the Dobb’s house too. We make sure to recycle all of our waste properly off set too!
4. Water Fountain:
We fitted a water fountain and removed the use of all single use plastic bottles on set.
5. Lighting Department:
Our lighting department removed old lights and replaced them with new LED lights in most of our studios and exterior signage, this reduces power by more than half. LED lights also run a lot cooler, so the air con doesn't need to work as hard!
When we film out on location, HVO fuel is used instead of diesel in the location generators.
6. ITV Re-loved
