Turkington on top as rain hits Knockhill

Colin Turkington was once again fastest in the second free practice session for this weekend's British Touring Car races at Knockhill in Scotland.

With rain hitting the circuit just five minutes before the start of the session, it was a quick scramble to wet weather tyres for the 31 drivers before they started lapping the 1.7 mile circuit.

The session was halted early on after Lea Wood went off into the gravel at Leslies., and a second time with seven minutes remaining as the rain got heavier when Matt Neal went off at the same part of the track.

But the rain didn't halt the progress of the BMWs. Turkington's 55.484 lap, set after the first restart was never bettered. Nick Foster was second fastest, just two hundredths of a second behind, with the MGs of Sam Tordoff and Jason Plato third and fourth and the Honda Civics of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal fifth and sixth.
