Morgan to make Chinese Touring Car debut
Taking advantage of the BTCC's summer break, Ciceley Motorsports' Adam Morgan is heading for South Korea to race in the Chinese Touring Car Championship. Adam will drive a 2 litre turbo Volkswagen Passat for the 333 Works VW Team around the Korean International Circuit this weekend.
Adam who has had a very busy year already away from the British Touring Car Championship competing in the Goodwood Revival and the Goodwood Festival of Speed BTCC shoot out will only arrive at the track late on Thursday and after a track walk and seat fitting will be thrown straight into the deep end!
Typically Adam is more concerned about arriving at the circuit as he has to endure 3 long haul flights and a 3 and a half hour bus ride. He will take on the race as it comes, in his confident stride.
“I can’t wait for this," said Morgan. "It’s all been a bit rushed but that’s racing, some of these deals don’t come off until late in the day for various reasons, it’s just something that we have to get used too.
"I am just over the moon that somebody over there wants me in their car, I will try and get a few play station laps in before I go so that I’ll at least know which way to turn out the pits!! I just want to repay the faith in the team and do a proper job for them”
Adam who returns to the UK on the 13th of July will then head straight to Donington Park for a test with his Ciceley Motorsport Clio team who are shaking down a car and trialling a new driver in the team’s spare car.
“It’s all go” said Adam “But this is what I want, racing really is my life, I driver coach for the Clio team and help out with the data, straight after the test I head up to Knockhill to guest drive in a Mini Cooper in the Scottish Car Racing Championship. I am supposed to be going on a week’s holiday, my first for 4 years, a couple of days later, let’s see if that comes off! I have already paid for 2 that I’ve had to cancel but those little things are the sacrifices we have to make”
Norman Burgess Ciceley Motorsports Commercial and Marketing Manager said “Adam is really up for this race and isn’t at all fazed by the deal coming together at the last moment, all race drivers want to be paid for their efforts and this could be really beneficial for him in the future."
