Morgan hoping for repeat BTCC success at home
After his win at Thruxton, proud Lancastrian Adam Morgan is looking forward to the fourth weekend of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship hosted at his home circuit Oulton Park this weekend.
For the third year in succession the Ribchester Rocket, his Ciceley Motorsport/WIX Racing team and their Mercedes-Benz A-Class enter the weekend on a real high after winning the Championships last race at the country’s fastest track Thruxton and enjoying a rich vein of form.
Adam and reigning BTCC Champion Colin Turkington are the only two drivers to have scored points in every round, of the 9 championship races held so far this year Adam has earned 1 outright win, 2 thirds and 2 independent wins.
He is 6th in the Driver’s Championship only 16 points behind the championship leader. Adam and the WIX Racing Team are 2nd in the Independent Championship, 5th in the Team Standings and 2nd in the Independent Teams Standings.
Adam “We have enjoyed a very solid start to the year again, the team as always have been meticulous in the preparation of my Mercedes A Class and it hasn’t missed a beat.
"Oulton can be tricky, it’s tight and twisty, overtaking can be difficult at the front of the field. I have completed thousands of laps of Oulton, my home circuit many of them during my ‘day job’ as a racing driver coach. I am again hoping for three points finishes, another podium would be fantastic”
“We are right in the hunt this year. Every single person in the team continues to give their all for the cause, everything has come together. "
Norman Burgess Commercial and Marketing Manager added: “Oulton is by far the teams busiest weekend, many of Adam’s family, friends and supporters love to attend and cheer him on from the fence rather than the television.
"The Hospitality Team are going to be busy all weekend with over 100 VIP guests enjoying breakfast, a three course Sunday roast and cream teas in the WIX Racing Hospitality Suite. The atmosphere is always electric at the team’s home round. We obviously get the butterflies at every round but Oulton is just that bit different. We can’t wait for the weekend, it’s going to be a cracker both on and off the track”
