Lloyd completes Power Maxed Racing team

Daniel Lloyd will make his long-awaited return to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship after penning a full-season campaign with Warwickshire-based outfit Power Maxed Car Care Racing.

Completing the squad’s two-car line-up for its 2021 title assault, Huddersfield-based Lloyd will partner double BTCC champion - and most successful driver in the history of the series - Jason Plato, in one of the team’s Vauxhall Astra NGTC machines.

No stranger to the TOCA paddock, Lloyd made his debut in the Triple Eight Vauxhall Vectra back in 2010, with Lloyd claiming his maiden BTCC win in 2018 at his home track, North Yorkshire’s Croft circuit.

In spite of his success and consistent performance, 2021 will be the 29-year-old’s first full season campaign in Britain’s premier racing series.

Lloyd has earned a reputation as a force to be reckoned with within the world of touring cars, having taken the TCR-UK title in 2018, winning eight out of 14 races, and scoring podiums at all but two meetings. For the past two seasons, he has competed in the European TCR Championship, claiming multiple race wins and podiums, before deciding to return to the BTCC for the upcoming season.

"I’m mega excited to be racing back in the UK," said Lloyd, "and this will be the first time I’ll be heading into the championship with some pre-season testing under my belt. I’ve always been thrown in at the deep end a little bit, so I can’t wait to get stuck into the programme.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity, and really looking forward to not only working with the team but also learning from Jason [Plato] and his vast experience. I’m looking to build on this opportunity to develop a long term partnership and launch a multi-year attack on the championship heavyweights.”

Adam Weaver, Power Maxed Car Care Racing Team Principal added, “I’m really excited to have Dan joining us for the upcoming season. He’s a driver who’s always been on our radar and has always impressed when he’s been on the grid in the past.

"I don’t think anyone can argue that with the right equipment underneath him, he’s a genuine championship contender. With the championship’s most successful driver ever alongside him, we certainly think we have one of the strongest pairings on the grid this season.”
