Jordan to test British GT for 888

Multiple touring car champions and top British GT squad, Triple Eight Race Engineering have revealed they will be giving the reigning British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan an opportunity to drive one of its BMW Z4 GT3s this Thursday at Donington Park.

In recent weeks the Greatworth-based team has made its international sportscar debut in the Blancpain Endurance Series and taken part in the up and coming GT Cup championship, as it explores the numerous opportunities that now exist for GT3 racing across the globe.

Just last week Triple Eight Team Principal Ian Harrison added that the Blancpain Sprint Series, Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi and another outing in Blancpain Endurance Series were all on the team’s radar.

Harrison commented: “We’re looking at driver options for the winter GT programme with immediate effect and over the course of the next 6-8 weeks we’ll be evaluating some interested parties. We’re kicking that off with reigning BTCC Champion Andy, who has shown an interest in expanding his current driving commitments across different disciplines. This matches up with our own agenda here at Triple Eight as we look to develop our GT business ahead of the 2015 race season.

“You can expect to see a few familiar faces in the BMWs as we get our plans together for the year ahead, and run experienced drivers alongside our upcoming talent that is under development in TEDD (888’s driver programme). It’s an exciting time to be part of Triple Eight right now.”

Already this season Jordan has tested an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and the former rallycrosser took a podium finish on his return to off-track racing a fortnight ago in the second round of the World Rallycross Championship, the AUTOSPORT World RX of Great Britain at Lydden Hill.

Jordan will also compete at this year's Goodwood Revival in September, sharing the family Austin A40 with father and Eurotech team boss Mike Jordan in the St Mary's Trophy for 1950s saloons.
