Goff and Scott switch to Passats

Chrome Edition Restart Racing drivers Jack Goff and Warren Scott are to switch from Vauxhall Insignias to Volkswagen Passats for the remainder of the season.

The team, which is owned by Scott, already runs Passats for Oulton Park race winner Aron Smith and former champion Alain Menu, and considers Snetterton its local circuit, being based at Buntingford in Hertfordshire.

"I think we'll have quite a group of guests coming down," said Smith. "So to kick off the second half of the season at a track that's probably your most local is good. I go there full of optimism - last year I finished on the podium twice.

"We have a car that will certainly be in the ballpark, but there are probably ten other cars too, so we will still have to outrace and outperform them.

End of an era

But the switch to Passats is significant for another reason, as it means there will be no Vauxhall entered into a British Touring Car Championship race since the final round of the 1988 season, at Silverstone.

Vauxhall is one of the most successful manufacturers in BTCC history, with more than 130 race wins. It can also boast eight drivers' championships, including four in a row between 2001 and 2004.
