Crees parts ways with BTC Racing

With just a week to go before the start of the season Michael Crees has left BTC Racing, in a separation described by the team as "amicable".

A statement published at midday said, "Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship team BTC Racing regrets to announce it has parted ways with driver Michael Crees ahead of the start of the 2021 season.

"Crees will no longer be participating in the championship and leaves the Brackley team on amicable terms."

The 37-year-old driver from Broadstairs in Kent is the BTCC's reigning Jack Sears Trophy champion, picking up that silverware in only his second season of touring car racing.

The team will announce a replacement driver to join team-mates Jade Edwards and Josh Cook in the next few days.

BTC Racing owner and team principal, said: “On behalf of everyone at BTC Racing, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Michael for his participation with the team in the British Touring Car Championship. It’s a shame the partnership isn’t continuing, but we wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The season gets underway at Thruxton next weekend, with live coverage on ITV4 and itv.com
