Collard "a bit tender" after crash

Ebay Motors BMW driver Rob Collard says he's feeling " a bit tender" after his horrific crash at Silverstone on Sunday, but despite the violent accident he wasn't seriously injured.

Collard initially complained of pins and needles after climbing out of the upturned car, and was airlifted to hospital in Coventry for precautionary checks, but was otherwise uninjured.

"i'm feeling much better today," added Rob. "It's amazing how much your body can recover in 36 hours.

Rob thanked the marshals who helped rescue him from the car, and the fans who sent him messages of support: "The cars are very safe, but major kudos to the marshals for running to the scene before the car had even come to a rest.

It was only the second time this season that the Hampshire driver had failed to finish a BTCC race, consistency which means he remains sixth in the drivers' championship, ahead of former champions Matt Neal, Alain Menu and Fabrizio Giovanardi.

Collard is expected to be back in action at Brands Hatch in two weeks time, for the season finale to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, which will be live on ITV4 on Sunday October 12th.
