Chilton to miss Silverstone BTCC event after failing medical
PMR Vauxhall driver Tom Chilton is top miss the next round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after being unable to get medical clearance following a routine operation.
The 32-year-old, who returned to the BTCC this season after a five year absence, went under the knife last week to have gall stones removed, but has not received medical clearance to race next weekend.
"It's such a shame to miss the next races," said Chilton, "but I have to follow the doctor's orders. I'm gutted to miss Silverstone particularly as it's one of my favourite tracks, but I will be back on the track at Brands."
An announcement about who will stand in for Chilton at Silverstone is expected soon.
