Billy Monger loses lower legs in Donington Park F4 crash

The family of teenage racing driver Billy Monger has confirmed that he has had both lower legs amputated following an accident at Donington Park on Sunday afternoon.

The 17 year old from Surrey crashed heavily in the sixth round of the F4 British Championship at the Leicestershire circuit, and was airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after a lengthy extraction procedure.

The other driver involved in the incident, Patrik Pasma, was also airlifted to hospital but released on Monday after being observed overnight.

A fundraising page set up by Billy's team manager Steven Hunter and BTCC driver Tom Ingram had raised over £50,000 in the first two hours.

Official statement in regards to Billy Monger's condition:

Billy Monger is in a critical, but stable condition at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he is receiving the best medical attention possible.
