AmD sells Focus to Stewart Lines
AmD Tuning has sold its old Ford Focus to a new team run by BTCC driver Stewart Lines, and with it, one of its licences to run in the BTCC.
Lines, who failed to score a single point in his debut BTCC season this year, aims to race the car himself, with the Maximum Motorsport team he jointly owns with John Hall.
“We will try our hardest to be the most competitive we possibly can be for 2016," said Lines. "This is the hardest race series in the UK. It’s a challenge, but a very exciting one.”
The Focus ST was built by Motorbase Performance, who ran it until the end of the 2013 season, before selling it on to Shaun Hollamby's AmD Tuning team.AmD has run the car for the last two seasons, but with limited success. Its only podium finish was in a reverse grid race at Knockhill in 2014, piloted by Dave Newsham.
This year, with Clio Cup champion Mike Bushell behind the wheel, its best result was a tenth place at Snetterton. Bushell ended the year 23rd in the drivers' standings.
Hall added, “Stewart and I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Shaun Hollamby at AmD Tuning for providing this opportunity. We are fully aware, ready and excited to be part of the fantastic series that is the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.”
AmD meanwhile are building a second Audi to complement the one raced this season by Nic Hamilton and Jake Hill.
