Interview: Have Collabro got a hit record on their hands?

Looking every inch the typical boyband, Collabro surprised the Judges by belting out Stars from Les Miserables.

Amanda was so blown away she broke down in tears and Simon dished out quite possibly his highest compliment of the night.

BGT Insider grabbed Michael from the band to see how the boys were feeling following their Britain's Got Talent debut.

“Saturday night was the first time we had heard Simon say ‘There’s a hit record right there’,” Michael said. “ That’s what we really want – I was thinking quick, get into the studio!

“Simon was the Judge we wanted to impress most. People have compared us to a musical theatre One Direction. Simon shared their journey with them and it would be amazing if he wanted to share our journey too.

“It doesn’t really hit you when all the Judges stand up. We’ve watch them on previous years and they so rarely do it that you can’t believe they are doing it for you. It was overwhelming.”

Michael said the five-piece all share a love of musical theatre and are keen to bring the genre to a younger generation.

“We thought about what really gets us going about musical theatre and it’s the five or six part harmonies so it made sense to get together,” he explained.

“We feel something special when we sing together. We just get this vibe. In the last few notes of Stars I get goosebumps.

“Obviously we don’t want to make people cry but the fact they feel that emotion like Amanda did means that we are telling the story well. That’s what musical theatre does, more so than pop songs.”
