Amanda: "I’ve learnt a lot about Simon this year"

Amanda Holden has revealed that despite working with her fellow Judges for years, she’s still learning new things about boss, Simon Cowell.

Speaking of her fellow Judges, Amanda claimed: “I’ve learnt a lot about Simon this year. He’s wanting to know much more about every single contestant, he's delving really deeply into people’s personal lives, he’s asking about their motivations, how they feel, how happy they are.

“He’s not really interested in what kinds of music they like or why they want to be on the show, it’s much more deep rooted than that. He’s turned into something quite spiritual this year, it’s really unnerved me. He’s being really nice. I don’t like it! It’s like, ‘Why are you being so nice?’”

However, it seems that Simon hasn’t gone totally soft, with Amanda adding: “Simon is like having a big brother, he’s constantly on mine and Alesha’s back. The minute we say we don’t like a female contestant for one reason or another, he thinks we’re being catty, which is ridiculous.”

And, when it comes to Simon’s bromance with David Walliams, Amanda joked: “David and Simon’s relationship has, I think, blossomed. They are very close this year, I think they have spent time outside of school with each other.

“David went round to Simon’s house a lot, but still David’s been wrestling Simon to the floor. Simon always says he’s wasting his time because he’s just going to edit him out. David is still trying to please Simon too much, like he always does, and he annoys him, but the bromance is still there.”

While things appear to be going swimmingly for David and Simon, Amanda went on to admit that she came face-to-face with her own admirer, Peter, saying: “I know, I have a fan, it’s shocking! It was very cute. He had written a whole song about me, so I stood on stage while he sang it. I was absolutely thrilled, slightly awkward but thrilling none the less.”

As well as having a song written about her, Amanda went on to tease that when it comes to the talent, she believes Alesha’s Golden Buzzer act “could win the entire show”, before adding: “This year we’ve been inundated with incredible children, really good, confident, fabulous, talented children.

“It gives me hope for the future, this is the next generation so you think, brilliant! There’s babies being born every day, in 11 years time when I’m on my zimmer frame I’ll audition them!”

You can catch more from Amanda when BGT returns to ITV this Saturday, 15th April, at 8pm!
