Get set for Christmas with a toy sale
Sainsbury’s toy sale, perfect for Christmas, check for ‘free’ Amazon £7 code, a travel insurance warning, and freebies for you and your dog. These are our Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis’ Quick Deals.
Sainsbury’s ALL TOYS reduced by at least 20%
If you go to your nearest Sainsbury’s that sells toys (excludes Central and Local stores), you can get a minimum of 20% off and as much as 50% off ALL toys until Tuesday 27 October. Many rabid deals-hunters see it (alongside similar Argos and Toys R Us sales) as one of the key times to stock up for Christmas, and it’s best to go quick as it’s likely to be hugely popular. All toys are reduced, not just selected items, but not all have 50% off. Here’s a sample of what’s included in the sale:
Lego Classic large box - £33.32 (was £49.99, next cheapest £45.89 at Amazon)
Disney Cinderella doll & carriage - £21.49 (was £42.99, next cheapest £34.99 at Toys R Us)
Crayola airbrush kit - £11.49 (was £29.99, next cheapest £14.99 at Smyths Toys)
Check for ‘free’ Amazon £7 code
If you’ve an Amazon account, log in to check if you’re eligible. Those who are eligible are told in green writing “you have successfully qualified for the promotion code” and you’ll need to buy £30 of Amazon gift cards in gift boxes, in a single purchase, by 11.59pm on Saturday 31 October. If you can’t see it check this Amazon link.
To get the offer you need to buy £30+ of Amazon gift cards in gift boxes (the boxes are free), and Amazon says it will email your £7 promotional code two days after you buy them. As you’re buying gift cards which are valid ten years, this is effectively a “if you’ll spend £30 on Amazon in the next ten years here’s a free £7” deal. The codes need to be used by Wednesday 16 December, and have no minimum spend.
A warning – don’t book your holiday naked
I want to give you a heads up following a tweet I got last week (actually two tweets) from Hayles saying: "
Sadly the answer's no. I often hear of people exposed and uncovered (naked is hyperbole, but I wanted you to read this), without active insurance from the day they book - in the event of cancellation, injury or illness, or death in the family, you've no recourse.
Of course you can try to throw yourself on the airline's mercy, but most flight tickets aren't flexible. And just as if you bought a tennis racket and broke your arm you can't say the racket is faulty, nor is your airline ticket.
Travel insurance done right can be dirt cheap from £5.40 for a week in Europe (depending on age) to £13 for a year’s cover – it’s really not worth trying to gemmy it to last longer and losing out. More help in Martin’s Cheap Travel Insurance guide.
