Saturday night round up...
Take a look back at all of the amazing talent that graced The Voice UK stage in our first show on Saturday night…
First up was call-centre worker Jason Jones, who as a new dad just wants to provide for his family. His rendition of ‘Pillow Talk’ got the all coaches spinning their chairs, but he chose Team Will.
Then came Jenny Jones, a teaching assistant from Chester who dreams of making her hobby of busking into a full-time music career. Although her powerful performance got no turns, Gavin said: “If they’re all that good, we’re in trouble”.
Next up it was Into The Ark and their version of ‘Burning Love’ was both a coach and a crowd pleaser, but with their Welsh roots, how could they not join Team Tom?
It was then the turn of Diamond, a gospel singer from Essex. Her faith means a great deal to her as she grew up singing in a church. Jennifer was moved by her version of ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ and the dynamic duo have teamed up.
Rachel Rose was next up, a sassy waitress who says her pink hair is her thing! Her rendition of ‘Love Me Like You Do’ may not have got a turn, but the coaches were impressed with Jennifer acknowledging how difficult it must be for the acts who don’t make it through, saying: “That’s got to be tough, to be singing your heart out, hoping someone turns around.”
Jamie Gray then hit the stage, with a funky version of ‘Never Ever’. Jamie has given up his banker job in the city to pursue his dreams of music. Although he didn’t get a turn, the coaches questioned whether they had done the right thing.
Truly Scrumptious Ford then took her turn and sang ‘Dakota’. Gavin was mesmerised by the history in her voice and she won a spot on his team. Will commented that if he’d known that was her real name he would have turned for the name alone!
Max Vickers was next to the auditions, performing ‘You Can Call Me Al’ in his characteristically quirky style. Gavin said “You took a chance... so I have to take a chance” - and just like that, Max joined Team Gavin.
And last but not least came Max’s best friend Mo. Although flatmates, the boys auditioned as soloists and are very supportive of one another regardless of who goes furthest in the competition. Mo’s version of a powerful Paolo Nutini classic got all the coaches excited and all those chairs spinning. It was then up to Mo to make his choice - he opted for Team JHud, much to her delight!
