ITV Racing's Grand National coverage nominated for BAFTA
ITV Racing's coverage of the 2017 Grand National has been nominated for a British Academy Television Award.
We are thrilled to announce that our coverage of the world's most famous Steeplechase has been recognised by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
The 2017 programme from Aintree has been shortlisted in the 'Sport' category for this year's Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards and will be going up against the likes of Sky Sports' coverage of Anthony Joshua v Wladimir Klitschko for the BAFTA.
The ITV Racing team were over the moon to have been nominated for the prestigious award, for what was only our 21st live broadcast since regaining rights to horse racing in 2017.
It has been brilliant for everyone involved to receive recognition for their hard work and dedication put into covering the Grand National for the first time on ITV to a huge nationwide audience.
"It's a fantastic honour for the whole team to be recognised for such a prestigious award as a BAFTA, " said Senior Director and Executive Producer, Paul McNamara.
"We are thrilled to be heading to Aintree once more to be covering the 2018 Grand National."
Racing Editor, Richard Willoughby added, "I'm absolutely delighted and very proud that ITV Racing has been nominated for a BAFTA.
"It is a wonderful recognition of the dedication and hard work by all of the team both behind and in front of the cameras."
