Bristol Mayor announces £50,000 study into underground rail system

Bristol Mayor, Marvin Rees, has announced a study will be carried out into whether an underground rail system could help beat the city's traffic problems.

The feasibility study into a new metro will cost £50,000, with the project itself costing up to £2.5 billion.

Parts of the metro network would be underground and it would link the city with Bristol Airport and Cribbs Causeway.

The money for the study will be covered by the existing transport budget.
