Doubts over funding for West rail investments

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has cast doubt on the scale of investment in the South West's railways after admitting just £40 million has been promised - despite calls for a £7 billion package.

The Secretary of State said he wanted to invest in "resilience" in the region's tracks after the collapse of the line at Dawlish last winter.
