Residents urged to shut windows after landfill fire
People living near Compton Bassett in Wiltshire are being advised to keep windows and doors shut overnight after a large fire at a landfill site.
Around 12 fire crews have been called out to the site near Calne.
The fire service were first alerted to the incident at about 4pm on 19 April, and one crew remains on the scene this morning.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service say, "as far as we are aware, no injuries have been sustained in the incident."
But local residents have been warned to keep their windows and doors closed as a large plume of smoke continues to emit from the fire.
Crews were said to be working through the night in 'arduous conditions'.
All roads around the site remain open.
