Jacob Rees-Mogg MP says he does not want to be the next leader of the Conservative Party.

There's been speculation in the national press that the MP for North East Somerset has been sounding out friends about the prospects of making a leadership bid.

It follows growing support for the backbencher on social media - a movement dubbed 'Moggmentum' by his fans.

However, Rees-Mogg says that he stands by his leader Theresa May.

When asked if he was tempted for the future whenever there is another leadership election replied:

Ever since the recent election the support for the MP is increasing with many tipping him as the next Prime Minister.

With more than 40,000 followers on his Instagram and Twitter accounts, Mr Rees-Mogg is gaining news fans everyday.

Although Mr Rees-Mogg is keen to play down his Prime Ministerial ambition, it appears that 'moggmentum' is going nowhere.

A young Tory activist has even tattooed the word "Moggmentum" on his chest in support of the North East Somerset MP.
