A warning's gone out to dog walkers in East Devon after a pet was apparently attacked by a beaver.

The Devon Wildlife Trust say they received a number of reports of an incident where a dog, who was not on a lead, was injured near the River Otter last month. It's not clear the extent of their injuries, but they are not thought to be life threatening.

A colony of beavers have been living on the stretch of the river near Otterton for several years, although this is the first recorded attack of its kind in the area.

Wildlife experts say family group of beavers has kits (young), and are urging walkers to keep dogs under control and out of the river.
