Major fire breaks out on Devon Common

A major gorse fire has broken out on Woodbury Common.

One firefighter has been taken to hospital and three others needed medical treatment.

The blaze started art around 2pm and smoke could be seen for miles across Exeter and Haldon Hill.

The Woodbury Park hotel has been evacuated as a precaution as around 160 firefighters try to contain the blaze.

20 fire engines along with four water carriers are currently at the scene, and crews expect to be at the scene throughout the night.
