Exeter hill transformed into ski slope by 48 tonnes of snow from Milton Keynes

Although it may feel cold enough we've seen very little snow in the South West this winter but there was plenty of it in Exeter today.

In fact there were 48 tonnes of the white stuff in one area but it didn't fall from the sky - instead it arrived by truck from Milton Keynes.

The snow has been brought to the South West for a winter sports competition on Exeter University's Forum Hill.

Three lorries brought it to the hill earlier today in preparation for the competition this afternoon.

It involved six universities in the South West and saw students performing their own freestyle tricks on the downhill run with rails and boxes placed around it.

Skiers and snowboarders from the Universities of Bristol, Southampton, Plymouth, Portsmouth and the University of the West of England were all involved.
