Bosnian boy thanks Dorset soldier who raised thousands to pay for surgery for his facial deformity

A young man from Bosnia has sent a message of thanks to the Dorset soldier who helped him get surgery to repair a facial deformity.

Stefan Savic has now had the final operation in a series of surgeries that have continued through his childhood to help him breathe.

But none of them would have been possible without the financial and physical support of the soldier who met him on a tour of duty 13 years ago.

Wayne Ingram from Dorset was in Bosnia when he first met Stefan and has been working tirelessly to raise funds to pay for his surgery since.

Stefan Savic was first brought to Britain in 2003 for treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital, with the people of Dorset raising thousands of pounds to help his family pay for it.

Thirteen years on, Stefan is a young man with a bright future and has sent his thanks to the people who've helped him:
