Exeter High Street re-opens after hotel fire

Exeter High Street has fully reopened after the final cordons put up in the wake of the huge fire that destroyed a city centre hotel were removed.

The blaze broke out in the Royal Clarence Hotel opposite the city's Cathedral on October 28.

The hotel - thought to be one of the oldest in the country - was completely gutted by the fire.

It left the high street and areas around the cathedral cordoned off for days as demolition work began on the hotel.

Local shop and business-owners have been given access to their premises and bus routes which were affected have been re-started.

In a statement earlier Andrew Brownsford Hotels in charge of the Royal Clarence site said:
