Couple's pub flooded a month after taking it over
A young couple, who have a one year old daughter are appealing for help after their Devon pub was flooded in a flash flood. Charlie and Tess Baker purchased the lease on the Millbrook Inn, in Southpool, Kingsbridge just a month ago, but the interior has now been devastated following yesterday's flood.
Half an hour of torrential hail and rain caused water over a metre deep to rage through the pub in a torrent of water. It has caused substantial damage and the pub has had to close temporarily while repairs are made.
Previous flooding problems mean they are unable to claim on their insurance and have to foot the entire repair bill themselves. They're now asking for help from local businesses to help them to get the pub back on it's feet. They're hoping electricians, plasterers and painters can help and they're also appealing to people with spare sandbags as more flash floods are expected.
